      Parent/Guardian Orientation Meeting
      Tuesday, September 30, 2025
      7:30 pm (after evening mass in the church)

      Grade seven or older Catholics are invited prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. The Sacrament of Confirmation is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit to give Confirmation Candidates the proper understanding of how to live as followers of Jesus. The Holy Spirit is received through the anointing with oil & the laying on of hands by the bishop or a priest appointed by him.  

      To register your child for sacramental preparation, please follow these steps:

      1. Complete the Registration Form on this page & Click SUBMIT.
      2. Bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate to our Orientation meeting which will take place on Tuesday, September 30,  2025 at 7:30 pm  after evening Mass at our church.
        1. If you cannot find the proof of baptism, you can obtain the certificate from the parish where your child was baptized. Kindly contact them directly.
        2. If that parish is St. Therese, simply fill in the registration form and we will verify the information in our baptismal registery.
        3. If your child is not baptized or was not baptized in the Catholic Church, parents must speak with the priest at the October 2nd orientation meeting.
      3. To help offset the cost of materials, there is a registration fee of $60 payable by cheque or cash. Please make cheques payable to: St. Therese Catholic Church.
      4. According to the guidelines of Diocese of Peterborough, children should receive their sacraments at their parent’s home parish; however, should you want to receive them at St Therese, please obtain a permission letter from the pastor at the parish you belong to. Alternately, if you are not a member of any parish but wish to deepen your faith life in our community, we encourage you to fill out our parish registration form.  Click HERE for our parish registration form.
      5. Throughout the catechetical year, we ask you the parents/guardians to actively participate in your children’s learning by helping them study the materials provided.
      6. Your contact email will will be our main means of communication with you, the parent/guardian.

      Our St. Therese parish community is looking forward to supporting your child in prayer as they prepare to receive the sacraments and celebrate them with you and your family.

  • Preparing for Sacrament of Confirmation

        Celebrating Mass is a very important part of your child’s preparation for Confirmation. We encourage Candidates to attend Sunday Mass on a regular basis.

        St. Therese Weekend Masses
        Saturday 4:30pm
        Sunday 9:00 am, 11:00am and 7:00 pm

        • Sponsor’s Attestation Letter must be completed upon registration.

        Each candidate preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation needs a Confirmation Sponsor. Being a Confirmation Sponsor is a great responsibility. Sponsors are mentors and spiritual friends. Confirmation Sponsors must be mature in their faith and at least 16 years of age. They must be capable and comfortable answering questions the Confirmation Candidate might have about their faith. The Sponsor must have received the Sacrament of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation and be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. Candidates’
        parents cannot be their sponsor. However, a candidate’s parent is able to stand in by proxy in the event that the sponsor is unable to attend the Candidate’s Confirmation Mass.

    • Patron Saint Project

        Each candidate is required to choose a Confirmation Patron Saint. Candidates will select a Saint whose faith witness inspires them to live a life of greater faithfulness. A saint that is admired for what they have done and will be a role model and spiritual companion.     • Apostolic Service within the Parish
      • Apostolic Service within the Parish

        Candidates are required to incorporate a Christian Service component into their faith journey. We strongly encourage each candidate to get involved in the life and growth of our Parish Community and to build strong relationships within our Faith Family by: 

        • participation in devotions: Rosary (October), Stations of the Cross (during Lent)
        • active participation in every Sunday Mass
        • attending our Youth Group meetings (we will meet every Friday begining September)
    • Catechesis & other important Dates
      • Catechesis Dates:

        In preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, Candidates are required to attend Saturday morning classes 

        in either the Parish Hall or in the church.

        Saturday classes are from 9:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.
        Candidates are reminded to turn off their cell phones in order to eliminate any distractions.

        Dates
        2025 October 18, November 8, November 29, December 13,
         2026 January 24, February 21, March 21.


        *The Workbook -Your Journey Toward Confirmation and other supplementary resources will be used.

        Enrollment Mass:

        Confirmation Candidates and their parent(s) / guardian(s) are required to attend the Rite of Enrollment Mass.
        Sponsors are invited, but they are not required to attend.
        The mass will be: November 9, Sunday, at 7 pm.
        Confirmation Retreat
        Candidates preparing for Confirmation must attend a day of retreat. 
        Confirmation retreat is scheduled for
        Sunday, TBD (mass) in our parish. 
        Detailed information will be announced in due course.
        Candidates will then gather in the Parish Hall for reflections, games, prayer and lunch.

        Sacrament of Confession
        Each Candidate is required to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession. 
        Confession is asking for forgiveness and receiving God’s Grace to do better.
        Confessions will be heard privately in the church during the retreat on 
        Sunday, TBD.  
        Assigned times will be advised at a later date.
        Confirmation Practice
        In order for each Candidate to be well prepared for the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation Mass, they will be required to attend a practice session. Sponsors and/or parents are welcomed, but they are not required to attend.
         Confirmation Practice Mass will take place on 
        TBD, at 7:30 pm (after evening mass) at church for all Candidates. 
    • Confirmation Mass Dates
      • Confirmation Mass

        The celebrant for the Sacrament of Confirmation Mass will be Bishop Daniel Miehm. Candidates and their Sponsors are requested to meet in the church at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled Mass. The first pews on each side will be reserved for Candidates and their Sponsors. Assigned seating will be made available at the practice. Family and friends may sit in any of the available pews.

        Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated TBD for all youth togheter. (Students from Mother Theresa, Msgr. Leo Cleary, Good Shepherd and Others schools).
